1 type of gold, many type of buyers

At the banking hall today, while sitting & waiting for my colleague, I saw various things at the FD / GOLD counter.

An old lady sitting at the counter, waiting for the officer to prepare her gold certificates. This lady maybe in her 50s to 60s was waiting anxiously. She’s dressed moderately with a sweater over a normal blouse. She wears a pair of loafers with socks. From her action and her outlook, I feel this is a practical lady, buying gold either for her children, grandchildren or for her to keep during her old age. But who knows? She may be an avid investor. I see her counting her certificates, it comes to 5 … I cert for 1 gold.
These gold coins are very precious to her, I knew from the way she carefully wrapped them into plastic bags she brought. Also by the way she carefully put the certificates into the envelope.

There sitting and waiting in front of me is a pair of father and son who very much look alike. The son could be in upper secondary or in higher education. The father is dresses in office attire. I believe this father is taking the school holiday opportunity to guide his son more about banking and investment … for today – buying gold. When the bank officer asked the father are they buying gold, the father replied yes and asked for 2 of 1OZ gold. As their turn come, both the father & son had took their seat at the counter. The father was more anxious, kept checking his wallet and fiddling with his wallet while waiting for the officer to get the gold from the vault. The son seem to be a bit impatiently waiting. The father was talking to the son with a sense of pride that radiates on his face. It’s like saying “See, daddy is buying this for you and your sis, by the time you grow up, you can sell it for a much higher price” Such is the pride of a father guiding his son.

At the same time, they are some bank staff waiting to withdraw their FDs. I happen to know them and smile to them.

The bank counter officer has asked them to hold on a little longer as she served the customers first.
One of my colleagues which used to take LRT from the same station approached me and we started chatting.

I busy body as usual, I asked him what’s he doing and he told me he uplifted his FD to buy a cashier order to pay his other bank credit card… waiyo. I had to salute this guy. All these waiting and work?? I quickly suggested that he can use Internet Banking but he says he prefer the conventional way as he need the receipt. I added that it’s FOC and you can always print the acknowledgement online.

He then asked me about why there are so many people buying gold?
and I say “some buy for keeping, some buy for gift for loved ones, some buy for investment … for many purpose, maybe some buy to make ring =p
he seem to be interested and asked me how to buy and sell and how much is the price like. I initially wanted to pretend I don’t know anything but good things are meant to be shared … not bolot sendiri loh.
So I explained how to buy n sell, what is the price range like.
As he’s amazed how can I remember those individual prices for each day & week like 4D digits, he asked where can he checked the prices. I told him he can always access to the systems or the easiest will be to check through the bank website.
As my colleagues has finished her banking matter and we need to make a move. He excused himself and say he think it’s good to know something he don’t know all these while. “Oh, do find out more”

Sometimes, it’s ironic that the person who’s in an advantage position and should be enjoying the privileges are not enjoying them. Whereas, people who do not have this privileges are fighting for the privileges.

There, sitting at another corner could be a buyer who’s waiting for the gold price to fall further. And at home somewhere, another buyer could be waiting for the gold price to increase so that he can sell off his.

If you were at the gold counter, what type of buyer will you be?

I'm joining my colleagues for badminton sessions after work on Tuesday / Thursday.
Fun for me but maybe too easy for them ... those wakil sekolah and tournaments player. I guess I need to improve my skills.

wah.. come to think of it ... I'm pretty occupied from Monday to Thursday leh.

LINE DANCE on MONDAY

BADMINTON on TUESDAY

BADMINTON on THURSDAY

I'm loving it ... makes me feel good, minus the muscle pain initially. Today was my 1st session and now I'm beginning to feel the 'lenguh'ness as I'm typing this. No pain no gain.

I feel very satisfied after a good sweat-all-out .... MARVELOUS!!!

it was fast!!

Today, I received a letter from LHDN informing that I shall be receiving my cheque within 14 days (letter was dated 23/5/08)

Suprisingly it was way much earlier than I had expected ... which is a good thing. At least I can put my money to good use rather than sitting idle.

They had exceeded my expectation for the earlier half of the fulfillment process... let's see if they will perform as well for the later part of the fulfillment.

It was a nice suprise ... and it make me feel happy for at least there's improvement after so much harp about this issue. Syabas to LHDN

but for now I just want my money back =)

getting anxious

An hour ago, I was still playing with the bears I adopted from some highland.

However, now I'm feeling a little anxious and it's snowballing. Time really flies and without me realising, tomorrow I'll be going for fittings of some beautiful dresses ... which I'm wearing only once in a life time.

And yet, here I'm in the middle of the night, blogging and doesn't really have any idea of what I'll be wearing and what are my preferences.

My attempts to put on some weight so that I can fit into the dresses (read : carry the dresses nicely instead of drowning in the dresses) was futile ... sad to say despite me eating alot more than my usual alot for the past few months. Yes, no typo error, it's eating ALOT more than my usual ALOT.

I've refused to step on that weighing machine since 1 month ago till just now because I was hoping to see increase of at least 2-3kg. However, it was still the same old weight. I've tried calibrating the weighing scale again and again to ensure that the reading is accurate but to no avail.

Nevertheless, all these little matters will not dampen my spirit. For like any gal, I do hope and wish to look beautiful even just for once in my life time.
Do come help me choose the dresses if you have time and happen to be nearby =) and wish me luck =)

ps. and with my painful arms & legs (result of playing basketball game at highland), i bet it will take me a little longer to get into those dresses as my arms hurt even as I put on my clothes today =p yalah, play play some more =p

one big happy family

This could be the conversation they are having while in my bag pack and in those white plastic bags I used to ferry them around.

" Do you think we are lucky or unlucky to be picked up by this jie jie? " one seal asked another.

" I think she should be ok gua ... she looked so happy when she got us " another replied.

" Did you see her face when she caught me, so scary ah ... and now she packed us like sardine in this stuffy back pack. Do you think she'll eat us or sell us at the pasar malam? "

" I heard the jie jie say she'll adopt us home and share with her friends. Does that mean she'll cut us into pieces "

" Let's just hope and pray that we'll be in good hands "

I love you all ... that you've put your trust to me to adopt you to nice homes. That you've put your trust in me to follow me. I believe my friends especially those of you reading this will take good care of the bear you adopted.

This has got to be one of the happiest day in my recent years =D It was fun-filled and we played like a kid once more. We had body ache from the throwing of balls and other games but it was all worthwhile. Highly recommended if you would like a break.

Thanks to the person who allow us to have all these fun but which to remain anonymous.

Thanks to dear for accompanying me and helping me get more points with the games and play with me like kid despite our age. Thanks dear for didn't mind carrying all the bears bears around even in the public.

Thanks to addy & teacher who joined us in the games and provided much fun =)

Thanks to NDC & esther who joined us later for some fun & dinner.

You wouldn't recognise us if you had saw us playing like primary kids at the game centre ... the games are incredible and we had a great workout in the chilling weather ... such a bliss =)
we had so much fun that we forgot to take photos of us =p
Dear friends,
I've arranged for their adoption on the 7/6/08 with you all. These bunch of happy bears can't wait to be adopted by you =)

January - April CPI up 2.7%

quote from : The Sun - business news Thursday May 22, 2008

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for January to April 2008 increased by 2.7% compared with the same period last year. The statistics department said yesterday the rise 2.7% was brought by increases in the indicaes of all the main group - food & non-alcoholic beverages; housing, water, electricity, gas & other fuels; and transport.

me say : need we say more?? it's like either we swim or we sink ... but that's not the worse. Imaging having our money being 'eaten' and yet do nothing about it. How far can we go on like this? Hate to say this but hate more if I don't say.

Krabi is in Saudi, Toronto is near Hokkaido

Last week I visited a place which I had used to think is a place in Arab countries ... mana tau it's just about an hour flight from LCCT.

For as long as I remember (before the planning of Krabi trip that is),

I had always though Krabi is a place in Arab ... you know like Saudi, Abu Dhabi,
If you have asked me where's Toronto a few months back, I would also have affirmingly replied 'Japan' ... you know like Tokyo, Hokkaido, Kyoto ...etc
(so ironic ho, for a girl who's almost 30 not to know those places and has to be corrected by a friend)
-- if you happen to know about places with confusing names, please do share with me to avoid future embarassment ... LOL

Alamak .. what am I doing???
I'm supposed to write about our Krabi trip.
yalah... this is what happen when my mind is in a clutter and everything got mixed up... like dear say 'why can't stay focus and finish one thing 1st?'

okie dokie ... I shall leave Krabi trip for next post =p
meanwhile you may have the main course before this desert
(promise, I'll stay focus and prepare the desert ok?) .... kekeke

周杰伦 - 菊花台

if i remember correctly, ever since as young as 5 years old, I've inclination towards loving this genre of songs ... songs with some traditional chinese instruments

like this song the first time I heard it especially the grand opening background and the chorus ... although I wasn't sure who was the singer till I ask my sis. This song was composed by Jay Chow too. Brilliant artist.

I begin to admire this girl

after following here for some time I begin to admire this girl

I think the thing I like about her is her COURAGE ... to love someone unconditionally and not afraid to show it.

I admire her ' I love mai love lor, I just express what is in my heart to my love' attitude.

and to my friend NDC, you are just so lucky ... treasure this relationship =)

when the luck gets coming, the comings get luckier

Last time I used to always lament how unlucky I am. Always blaming my bad luck for anything happening (or even not happening) to me.

However, now I realised I've been a fool myself all these while believing that good things will never happen to me.

I guess the nature decided to teach me otherwise ... they started giving me sprinkle of good lucks ... and I found out that it works this way :

When the nature sprinkled us some good luck, they will observe us.

If we are appreciative and believe we can have more, they will generously give us more.
However if we keep lamenting and focusing on the bad luck, the sprinkle of luck will get lesser and lesser.

Don't just believe what I say, try it for yourself =) and let me know how true do you find it
what I say after this line is beside the point okie? =p

happy belated birthday Erin

I know I know this is very late, sorry. It has been sitting in my draft for some time but I decided to post this now instead of next year =p hehe

These days we meet only like once or twice a year ...
Maybe the physical distance does create a little distance on our friendship ... taken a little toll.
yah, i know what's the physical distance with the technology now??
my apologies for failing to take initiatives.

She's one unique girl with thinking and character of her own ... at times she thinks a little too much though.
Her laughter can shake the world.
She is a fair and square person ... by the way she always cut and divide our food.
She values freedom and is afraid of being tied down.
She's good with languages and
think she has soft spot for good love stories.

She used to pull her own hair when she's studying or deep in thought (ooppss, I shouldn't be writing this)
She used to be quite a serious person and almost perfectionist but think she has improved a lot.

ps. somehow or rather, I do not know why ... I can still remember clearly those things we've talked about during the nights of perhentian trip as well as your never give up attitude when we learn the fireball performance.
ah .... those were the days .... =)
Happy Very Belated Birthday Soon Yeng!!!
Many Happy Returns &
May all your wishes come true (especially those since you were 18 =)

Love the peacefulness of this picture of you taken by guo shyang =)

with love,
US

Wake up girl !!!

Something happened to me 2 days ago made me realised I wasn't treating myself right ... all these while

There have been time when I try to finish too many tasks in a period of time that I overworked and overstressed myself.

There were times when I shrinked my meal expenses just because I wanted to save a bit more...

There were many times I've given up something I like because I consider them luxuries... in actual, they were essentials.

Now, I do realise that my loved ones cares alot about me.
Everyone cares about me except myself ... (so crazy right?)

Now, once and for all, I'm gonna make this right ... and ensure that I see through it.
I vowed to take good care of myself ... then only I'm able to take good care of my loved ones.

what's your sleep debt?

Quoted from Cleo May 2008 :

Sleep deprivation over an extended period of time is said to result in 'sleep debt', which simply means the cumulative effect of not getting enough shut-eye.
The jury is still out tas to whether this debt needs to be repaid in full, or whether you can cheat or just pay some back in order to recover completely.
What is certain is that the sooner you start your instalments, the better.

There is a scientifically accepted method to test whether you have sleep debt, called sleep latency test (SLT) : simply relax in a quiet place during the day for a short while in time. If the feeling of sleep comes fairly easily, then you have sleep debt. It may be large, it may be small - generally, the sooner you nod off, the larger your sleep debt is.

me say : judging from the above SLT, I think I do have huge sleep debt as I can nod off in no time (even not in relaxed atmosphere). and I think someone close to me is also having a huge sleep debt too (the one who can start snoring in no time) ...
I've consulted AKPK to restructure my debt repayment and the counsellor has actually advised me to start paying my installment today ... to avoid going into further debt which may result in unreversible situations...
Good night everyone ... have a sweet dream & sleep tight =)

Life is full of hopes

life is full of hopes ... just like how flowers blossoms in spring.

I've grown to love variety of this plant and their flowers ... very simple and nice =)

Happy eggies jacuzzing

what do you see? Just a pot of boiling eggs?

but they are happy eggies

just a little closer ... hey, the happy eggies are taking a dip at the jacuzzi (i think i'm on holiday mood liao...either that or I'm sot sot liao ... wakaka)

eggies before they dive into the 'swimming pool' ... sunbathing LOL

Was hungry yesterday night & couldn’t find anything to eat, saw eggies when I opened the fridge & couldn’t stop myself … cooked 1 for myself supper, one for my breakfast tomorrow, 1 for sis & 2 more for colleagues breakfast tomorrow…

I grabbed a marker pen from my room and started making the eggies happy … I’ve never seen such happy eggies before and I fall asleep with a sweet smile on my face =)
I know this is childish but sometimes it’s good to let the child in us to come out & play …. hehe

The eggies made my sis and colleagues smile too … I'm as happy as eggies =D

Enjoy your coffee

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems,
but those who learn to live with things that are less than perfect.'

A group of graduates, highly established in their careers, got
together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon
turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and
returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups -
porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some
expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the
coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee, the professor
said: 'If you
noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving
behind the simple and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want
only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and
stress. Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee.
In most cases, it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides
what we drink.

What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you
consciously went for the best cups... Then you began eyeing each
other's cups.'

Now consider this, said the professor, 'Life is the coffee; the jobs,
money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to
hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define,
nor change the quality of Life we live. Sometimes, by concentrating on
the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided us. Enjoy your
coffee!'

The happiest people don't have the best of everything.
They just make the
best of everything. Four things to take note of in life...

1. Live simply.
2. Love generously.
3. Care deeply.
4. Speak kindly.

Shine a light & enjoy your Coffee today!!

FULFILLED & FULL FILLED

Not too sure if everyone experience this too?

Feeling there's a lot to be done yet can't find time.
I know they say we should prioritise and manage our time ...
I have tried but I think I'm no good yet which is why I'm still looking for more time.
It seems to me that time flies and I have not optimize my time...
I ended up always in hurry ... as to me, there are 1001 things which need to be done.

Sometimes, I've so many to do list in my head that I find it a challenge to execute all ...
There are so many things that need to be done at home, at work, at leisure and anytime for anyone.. that I try to compensate by reducing my sleep ... which is darn stupid.

I'm getting the feeling that my life is FULFILLED as well as FULL FILLED

Maybe I should learn to slow down & rest ... smelling the roses along the way.

One sign I'm wearing down is my sleep snoring.
I wouldn't have believe that as a girl I'm snoring loud, if not for someone who did a snore recording and replay it to me =p

I need help, seriously...

A banana a day tells a story

Today, around 12pm++ when most of my collegues went out for lunch, a very young cleaner girl came to ask me whether she can wipe our desks.

Old timer seldom asked for permission to wipe so I guess she's a new comer.

As she was wiping the table, I saw a very young girl (schooling age) in her and I couldn't stop myself from asking. Most of the time, each and every one of them have their reason and challenges.

I asked her where's she from? (some girls are from Indon)

I found out that I'm talking to a local young girl (15 years old) has stopped schooling since form 2 .... she has stopped schooling because her mum is sick (sakit keras).
She has got to work because if she don't, they'll have no food to eat.

She used to work near police station but she cannot stand the pestering of police officers for her to go back to school.

She doesn't seem to be telling lies to me.
Her voice is that of a school children ... still naive and innocent and as she talked she has never broke that eye contact with me.

I couldn't help much except giving her a banana for her to eat. (I've bought a bunch for breakfast & as snacks)
She refused but I just put it into her hand.
She thanked me profusely but I feel shameful because this is all I could help.

She's earning RM650 a month provided she doesn't rest a single day.
She has been taking KTM commuter to work...
let's take the cheapest RM1 x 2 way ... RM2 x 30days = RM60 just for travelling alone
What about her food? Her other expenses? Her mum medical expenses and her younger sister (standard 2) fees and schooling expenses.
She has an elder brother too ... who is jobless (according to her)

Talking about hard life ...
each time when we are about to give up, always remember that there are people out there who are more unfortunate than us.... Yet they have never gave up.

As I always remind myself, be kind to everyone for everyone is fighting some kind of battle in life.

I've talked to her for about 10 minutes but it's so stupid of me forgetting to ask her her name ... however, I've told her that she'll be SOMEONE in life for all the sacrifices she made... and I believe she will. God is fair.

did they teach us this?

pics source : Star Metro newspapers

My memory bank doesn't have a record of being taught how to plant plants .... OR may be did we learn in KH (Kemahiran Hidup) ?

I like this kindergarten. They are starting the children young.

This is what I would like my children to learn as part of life ... nurturing a young plant and let it grow. Learn not to give up even when the plant dies. Learn that plants likes human need sun, water and love to grow =)
I think perhaps due to I always skip KH classes last time OR they didn't teach us about growing plants last time, I'm no good with plants but I'm not giving up just yet.
And planting plants shall be something I'll teach my children =)
They are a few things that I would like to do ...
1. Gotong royong and plant plants for old folks home / orphanage / any charity premises.
2. Open a nursery with a book shop (something like books haven @garden)... and have classes for childrens and adults alike to share about plants.
3. Have a garden full of plants ... fruits, vegetables, flowers and greenies =) and a place so nice that we always wanna hang out there =p hehe
And I'm going to make those things I mentioned happen ... maybe not immediately but gradually. Can I have your good wishes? Thanks so much =)

愛笑的眼睛 - 徐若瑄

This song is among one of the few songs I’ve learnt to read and sing Mandarin.
However, that’s beside the point.

I just want to share this song with you friend (you know who you are) especially the lyrics.
Although my mandarin vocabulary is limited, but I think this song will lift you.
Please take some time to listen … I've got some message for you
