"Shutter" & "Aitraaz"

Shutter
the movie I watched with chai yee today. Overall a fine movie for thai production.
it touched 'something' which is very true and it makes me think (although plot quite predictable). The story was unfolded in a particular detailed way.
( actually I'm feeling a bit uneasy while typing this .. ^^! ) because it makes me think of some of the scenes.
let's switch focus then ... to the good looking hero especially his eyes during close up. however his deed in the movie is not so commendable.

Aitraaz
this movie I'm interested to watch. Aitraaz can be literally translated as 'objection'.
yup, a bollywood movie akshay kumar, priyanka chopra n kareena kapoor (no idea who is who). What's so interesting?
it tackles the issue of man wrongly accused of rape : inspired by a case of South African judge who was wrongly accused of rape during World Social Forum meeting in Bombay.
pondering into issues such as whether even consensual sex can later be called rape, and whether that women can now take advantage of the law for their own benefit.
"Aitrazz" ?

sila teka saya kuih apa?

Today, a friend sms to ask what malay kuih I like to eat.
I know what I like but didn't know the name of the kuih.
thus I sms her back describing the kuih
" kuih punya 'mould' ialah daun pandan yg dilipat kotak 4 segi"
" isinya dua lapis, yg bawah ialah transparent dengan water chestnut, yang atas ialah warna putih"
" sila teka saya kuih apa"

this is her reply
" amboi, belum tahu kuih apa"
" sudah pandai pandai minta"
" kalau tak silap saya teka"
" kuih pelita saya bawa"

"winter" cleaning

We did some "winter" cleaning yesterday (or should we call it rainy season cleaning)
cleaned the aquarium, cleaned the sofa, cleaned the floor, cleaned the car, cleaned the room, cleaned the racks, cleaned the altar, cleaned the garden, cleaned the PC, cleaned my brain ...
has not really tried doing so many cleaning in a day... muscle a bit sakit but it was fun =)
like doing gotong royong with family.
still i like the last cleaning of the brain the best =P
but don't think it's clean enough =P

oops ... I think I heard my father said " We'll have one more round before Chinese New Year"
err.... I think I want to keep things clean from now till coming Chinese New Year so that we don't have much to do then =P

Happy Deepavali & Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri

I know these wishes came a bit late, very late actually =P
nevertheless Happy Deepavali & Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to all !!!

romanticca

He grabbed the mike and announced
" I want to dedicate this song to my dear wife "
" I have many things to say but I just want her to know I love her. She's very precious to me "
" Having her as my wife is one of the best thing ever happened to me "
and he sang Alex To's song - Tian Zhen (literally translated - naive)

his voice tremble, he is nervous but to her, he's great
she walked towards him ... brimming with happiness
she embraced him

they shared their stories - how they met, how they fall in love, their ups & downs, their future plans together

Suddenly, everyone seemed to be moved by this loving couple.
All of us stopped whatever we are doing listened very attentively.
We wish them well.

and yes, we're at my friend's wedding dinner.
yet, we didn't know our shy & timid friend is such a loving husband =P
love can make someone do things they never knew they could ... and yes, the bridegroom agrees

It's a memorable evening and a sweet wedding dinner.
Never mind that we have to go back to work on Monday (the wedding dinner was on Sunday evening)
We really wish you well ... willis & felicia =)

facial

Out of curiousity, I ventured into learning doing 'facial' from jacqueline (a friend in beauty line)
yup... those where you lie down and have someone do something to your face (include ears & head as well)
sure la, pay so many times school fees oredi wo ... by being her 'guinea pig'
but ok la .. because every time very relaxing till I 'tertidur' (wonder whether I snore) ... haha, only to be waken up by her asking "wei, ok mo?" or "wei, dim mo?"
at least now I learnt how to do facials .. then my turn start looking for 'guinea pigs' =P
any volunteers?

on inflation ..

"once you see inflation, it's already too late.
it's just like cooking frog.
if you put a frog in boiling water, the frog will jump out.
if, however, you place the frog in tepid water & slowly raise the
temperature, the frog will be cooked before he realizes it "

for the weekend

" Life is not measured by number of breath we take
but by number of moments that take our breath away "

"don't talk to strangers"

If 2 people come up to you and start talking to you,
1. do you smile and leave? or
2. listen & then make excuses to leave? or
3. further engage in conversation with them?

"don't talk to strangers"
that's what our parents used to advise when young
but I think I threw my cautions to the wind when I selected option 3

was walking around in jaya jusco supermarket while waiting for someone.
I was the coffee, tea section looking at some green tea
suddenly two chaps appear, also looking for tea for someone elderly who like to drink tea I suppose. So I moved aside lo since I'm not really buying, just selecting & looking.
one of the chap tapped on the basket I'm holding, spoke in mandarin

chap 1 : You know which tea is good? Can you help us choose?
me : haha.. me oso dunno wan o (in broken mandarin)
chap 2 : Have you tried any before?
me : some but I just simply buy, never stick to any particular brand wan wo. So, you both buying tea for?
chap 2 : for the relative in kajang..likes to drink tea

couldn't remember exactly what lead us to continue talking & neither me or them leaving.
one of them is a sarawakian who had no formal chinese yet speak mandarin very well, working and the other want studying at HELP institute. both are housemates. they are humble and nice people (dunno true or not la..but judging from conversation during then)
their names : Ah Lek & Yong Yau
my name : Su Zhen
we chatted for about 10 - 15 minutes, before I make a move to my appointment
and they gave me their handphone numbers, I gave them mine too (dunno why oso)
haha ... for future 'yam char' wo

they might have intentions ... good or bad?
it could be they are trying to sell something / to recruit people
but let's give them benefit of doubt first lo
need not worry, me will be careful wan
but if they are genuine, then there's no harm getting more friends lo

If you ask me
" will you not talk to strangers? "
I'll answer
" depending" or
" perhaps to strangers who "soon-to-be-friends"

you?
" will you talk to strangers? "

"catch big fish, let go small fish"

"catch big fish, let go small fish"
will you?

I was at one of the small stall selling cystal at level 3 sg. wang.
Wanted to get myself a crystal bracelet (what to do? no one buy for me, so have to buy myself lo =P
I saw a basket of bracelet ... yup you read correctly .. a basket of bracelet
in various colour & variations .. and selling at rm10 each
basically these bracelets are made of small pieces of irregular size crystals string together ..
these bracelet may not have fine craftwork... but they are just SIMPLE & NICE

I was standing & selecting when a lady came over and sat to the chair next to me.
and she asked the sales assistant "which type of crystal is good for career?"
being a sales assistant, of course the guy introduce her some 'better prices' bracelet ..
and he explained about the benefits of the crystals & how it will grow.
I was selecting & EAVESDROPPING as well .. just out of curiosity la

then suddenly the lady turn over,
she asked " so what about all these bracelets in this basket? are they of any use? "
the sales assistant in sticky situation liao .. but this is what he said
" all these (in basket - rm 10 wan la) is actually no 'power' wan ... almost useless. they are actually made of all those leftover..low quality. The core & better quality ones are used to make these (pointing to those on display with beatiful price tags) "
the lady then look at me one kind ... I smiled to her =)
She looked away immediately, she then asked to have a look at some of the more prized crystal bracelets.
by then I had selected the SIMPLE & NICE rm10 'citrine' bracelet, paid & left.
hope the sale assistant did manage to
"catch the big fish"
in fact he got the "small fish" oso ma ... but not kenyang lo =P

ps. and the lady must be wondering ... "why is she buying those leftover which is of no use?"
and honestly I do not know loh. could it be I'm buying what I can afford?

7 fine days, 1 wonderful week

this week has been a wonderful week
everything seemed to fall into their place
never mind the 'extra' that was put in ...
the good things outnumbered the 'not-so-good'
and I shall believe there will be more to come, greedy isn't it? =P

sunday : got myself a handphone and a crystal bracelet (rm10 wan la)

monday : a collegue's father is able to help to reduce 'saman' amount for 'saman' that we didn't know existed (for speeding, that is, at kesas highway)

tuesday : got to know 2 nice people ( by disobeying elders' advise - don't talk to strangers)

Wind Water

Friday evening, together with my collegue Yin Yin
we attended a talk on Feng Shui organised by LDC (Learning & Development Centre)
however, before we reach the centre in Pudu .. the 'wind' and the 'water' decided to greet us ... it was raining heavily and windy on friday evening if you remember =)
interesting topic and not to mention the nice foods.. muahaha
anyone heard of Lilian Too? oh..not her giving the talk, her diciple from WOFS (World of Feng Shui..sounds familiar, doesn't it?)
enough of that, let's get into light 'Feng Shui' =)

each of us have some secret friends wan wo =P
below refering to your chinese horoscope
monkey & snake
sheep & horse
rooster & dragon
tiger & boar
rat & ox
dog & rabbit
( what mr. jason - speaker suggested was that we have these people around us or have some figurines / images around wo )

and we have allies too =)
dragon, monkey, rat
rooster, ox, snake
boar, rabbit, sheep
horse, tiger, dog

& here a bit more about elements - shape - colours
(actually he taught us how to calculate 'kua' number first .. but me don't know how to describe..
er...but you can visit http://www.WOFS.com to have your 'kua' number calculated)
Fire - triangle - red, marron, orange
Earth - square - yellow, brown
Metal - circle - white, gold, silver
Water - wavy - blue, black
Wood - rectangular, line - green, lime

so next time if you see me wear more of a certain colour, then you'll know which is my element loh ^^ hehe
ps. mr. jason however did advised that everything should be in balance as in in the concept of 'Yin & Yang'

"Amazing Race"

I think Malaysians are in an "Amazing Race" on the road
and to own a car or vehicle (or several cars for the matter)

and no wonder, petrol prices is increasing tremendously
imagine some 900,500 new vehicles have been registered thus far this year alone as per JPJ - road transport dept director general Datuk Emran Kadir
( from 13/10 -The Star Metro)

and in Klang Valley only - 31,000 new cars was registered with JPJ offices in July alone
whoops ... buying car is like buying normal commodities already
does it shows that people are getting wealthier or does it shows that more people are getting into debts?? with car dealers offering attractive financing package up till 9 years

well..well.. I only know I'm struggling to pay installment every month =P haha

The Apprentice

Had just finished watching "The Apprentice" on TV3 10.30pm - 11.30pm
missed the earlier episode(s)
this time round, their business task is to manage 'Planet Hollywood' for 24 hours
and from the show, learnt that there are many 'tried & tested' strategies ... but there are also other creative strategies that may work out better. Also how different people from all walks of life try to outshine & outwit in their attempt to secure their dream job with Trump organisations with a hefty 6-figure pay.
Personally, I think it's a great 'reality show' ... again kudos to Mark Burnett & team.
Also a chance to watch Donald J.Trump & his affliates in action .. something like what organisations are looking for in selection of job candidates & how performances are measured.

and if you wish to find out more,

lost not found

I was wrong ...
I thought no one would want a handphone like mine ... nokia 3315
I was wrong ...
I left it out of my sight for a few seconds
and now it's gone ...
there goes one of my precious possession ...
and now I have to fork out money to get a replacement ...
the number ... lucky I registered, thus I'm able to have back the same number
the mobile phone ... have to forego my savings for digi cam and pendrive
the contacts and sms ... it has 'gone with the wind'
I was wrong again ...
didn't backup my contact lists for quite some time

actually when I realised my hp was not where I placed it, I did a frantic search..hoping it was not taken, hoping to find it in my bag.
I was dumbfounded. It took me some time to realise it's gone. Alone I didn't know what to do, who to call ... I was at a lost I have to admit.
Couldn't remember any number to call .. not even the Digi service number to bar the line.
At last, what I did at the public phone was calling my own hp number ... what do I say if someone answer the call? I don't know... but I didn't managed to get through and it went into the voice mail.
in retrospect, now I realised my crisis handling ability is this BAD ...
haha.. I was calm throughout the entire episode though

well, I paid a very expensive tuition fee for a lesson that was taught over and over again to me previously... but I guess me learnt better thru 'hands - on experiences' ... sigh

till I have my new hp, please do me a favour
in any case, if your number is among those which I have not backup
pls send me sms or give me a call to let me have your number, can?
thanks ya =)
