merdeka day 快乐

pic source :www.flag-of-malaysia.com/

To me, it all means remembering where we come and how far we have come along ..
Despite all flaws (which country do not have?), I still see hope (albeit a little one) ..
Just don't let that little flame goes off else merdeka day means nothing except 1Day off.

merdeka day 快乐!!

Make Merdeka Day meaningful to our children ... make them feel there's no place like home.

wish upon a star (everyday) ?

I'm out of my mind again...as always
Perhaps unconsciously I'm hoping / filing up a gap of something I missed out earlier part of my life ... like someone always say I'm always 比人慢

suddenly had the urge to fold many many many stars and put them in a jar..
I was thinking if one star can bring happiness to people around me for one day, I wouldn't mind folding alot alot alot of stars.
perhaps all I need to continue living is a little hope in everything, so that I've something to look forward to each day.
Now the 'twinkle twinkle little star' song is playing in my mind ... ah bi likes this song =D

how many pairs do I actually need?

The picture above reflect the number of shoes I bought this year alone...
Averagely almost a pair a month for the past 7 months ... crazy?
I've calculated ... I've total 10 pairs of shoes (slippers included).
Apart from those in picture above, I've 1 pair of sandals, 1 pair of walking shoes, 1 pair of working shoes & 1 pair of running shoes.
The only consolation is that most of my shoe does not cost more than RM60.
Each pair of shoes seem to have special meaning for me because I always remember where I got them & at what prices ..hehe
From left to right of pic :
1. Blue sandals from Tesco @ RM13.90
2. Bronze 1 inch dinner shoe from Sogo (member's day sales) @ RM16.90
3. White Crocodile walking shoes from Sogo (warehouse sales) @ RM39.90
4. Crocs-like walking shoes from pasar malam @ RM15.00
5. Beige ribbon 1 1/2 inch shoes from Jusco (member's day sales) @ RM21.90
6. Black heels working shoes from Sogo (member's day sales) @ RM16.90
overall I'm happy with my purchases although a pair of shoes a month is rather outrageous...LOL
Now that I think back...I've only got a pair of feet.
So, a promise to myself : No more buying shoes for 2010.

we can make a difference

“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.”
Helen Keller (1880-1968);
Author, Lecturer, Activist

“We can do no great things - only small things with great love.”
Mother Teresa (1910-1997);
Founder Of The Missionaries Of Charity

Never underestimated the power of one ... for what we do can make a difference.
This is how I brainwash myself to believe ... so that I can start and end my day peacefully...LOL

Those charts are some of the bedtime routine before ah bi goes to sleep.
Ah bi will point to one picture for mama to tell what is it.

tomorrow is really a bonus

why do I say 'Tomorrow is really a bonus'?

Last Friday morning, my colleague shared with me what happened to her aunty's child.
The child is only 10 year old ++ and was found not breathing anymore (dead is a cruel word to use here) on thursday night on his bed, just like sleeping.
The child does not have any medical history and later was confirmed by doctor did not take any medication / poison and does not have any injury.
It was classified under sudden death.

what if we are the loved one of this child? what if we don't even get to say goodbye to our loved ones? what if we fall asleep forever? What if someone so dear to us just left without us knowing what happened?

Someone I know always say :
明天能够睁开眼睛算是赚一天

isn't tomorrow really a bonus??

same same but different different

I do not know how & when did I started having this 'unusual' habit.
Whenever I see the clothes I like, I will not mind buying the same clothes but different colours. In fact, I'll buy same clothes with different colours.

Perhaps I'm lazy to choose which colour suits me best when I like almost all colours (I'm a colour person, remember...lol).
Perhaps I've never mind people saying I wear the same clothes everyday.

LOL...this is only one set of many examples. If you happen to have a chance to look at my working clothes, I have 3 sets of short sleeves working blouse of the same design but different colour.

All these while I thought this is something very normal until someone told me that buying the same clothes even with different colour is something that girls / ladies never do. Hey, here I'm doing it all these years...LOL.

Oh..if you still remember our 15/3/2003 Genting trip, I was wearing the same clothes - white on the 1st day and red on the 2nd day.
I didn't realised until ah dear highlighted to me.
haha...talking about people who are lazy to even decide what to wear ... LOL

ps. on a separate note, I really really really miss those trips ... our clothes colour combination in the photo also very nice =p

In support of World Breastfeeding Week (1st - 7th August 2010)
'Every ounce counts'
one of the best moments in life ...

Many people asked why do I go through all the trouble
but to me, it's no trouble at all .. It's something I love to do.

I've never mind that
when I'm @work, I have to use my lunch time for this
when I need to attend trainings (in hotel/training centre), I'll have to call up 1st to make prior arrangements.
when I go for shopping, I'll have to find baby & nursing friendly places.
when I'm on the go, I'll have to make sure the car shade is in the car.
when my breastpump malfunction / rosak, I call the whole world for help.
And when I finally found help, i'll have to bring the pump to LRT station far away for people to repair.
when I go to work / come home, I have to lug all the 'neccesities' up and down in rain/shine (at times climb stairs to 8th floor)
when I intend to have a full night sleep, I have to wake up few times throughout the night.

...there are just so many 'when...' that may makes me mind, but they just don't.

我一点也不觉得辛苦, 只是觉得很幸福

lessons life taught me ... by Refgina Brett

what this lady has to say is just so so true..

Written By Refgina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:"

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ''In five years, will this matter?".

26. Always choose life.

27. Forgive everyone everything.

28. What other people think of you is none of your business..

29. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.

30. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

31. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

32. Believe in miracles.

33. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

34. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

35. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

36. Your children get only one childhood.

37. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

38. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

39. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

40. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

41. The best is yet to come.

42. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

43. Yield.

44. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

everytime

I realised that everytime when I have something bothering my mind
or when I've lots of thinking to do,
I'll start doing some 'stupid' things that does not require thinking like -colouring-, -folding stars-, -cross stitch-, -kneading-

Here I'm staring blankly at the mid year progess career dialogue form which I could not think of anything to write and start folding stars instead. It will be a one-to-one session tomorrow.
I do not know what are my strengths displayed, what are my areas for development and what are my training needs in the next 6 months. Is all these really important and really matters? Or are we doing this just for the sake of doing??

when it's over...

Nothing beats the joy of seeing on our statement
installment 12/12 (or 24/24 or 36/36 or 60/60)
when we are finally free from that bondage.
