还再学华语

The picture above is self explanatory...
I'm way too 'smart' for Standard 1 chinese...

I didn't know what happened until sis laugh till she fell off the chair ... muahaha
and then she said 'wah, ah jie, you so panai already one'
and I was so proud of my improvement ... not until she read the instruction for me ....

muahaha... so clever of me ah =p muahaha...

学华语

Lately I'm very determined to learn chinese. and I really mean it.

Sometimes I know I sucks when I speak mandarin to mandarin speaking friends.

They will either look at me one kind or they will be silent... then I know I've just blurt some funny mandarin words which may mean something else...
But that's the only way I can learn....practice, practice and practice...
I'm not afraid to make mistake because that's how I learn faster.

I'm so determined that I actually took out all my sister's primary school book and intend to have them mark my 'homework'.... keke...
And I completed 6 out of 10 of those latihan sheets... yay!!!
I couldn't imagine I'm doing standard 1 and standard 2 worksheets instead of marking them.
Don't know whether addy's teacher willing to teach me or not leh? ..hehe
I'm a super slow student though ... who always sleep in class ....

and the best part is ...
look out for next post...

There's no better time TO START than NOW

EPF to start ’em young on investments

KUALA LUMPUR: Beginning Feb 1, younger Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributors will be able to make withdrawals from their accounts for investment.

This is under the EPF's new “Beyond Savings” scheme where members can withdraw a portion of their savings from their Account One that is in excess of a “basic savings,” which varies according to age.

This basic amount increases according to the age of the contributor and would ensure that he had at least RM120,000 by age 55, said EPF organisational development division head Hizwani Hassan.

Under the new scheme, contributors can withdraw at least RM1,000 and up to 20% of the excess amount once every three months.

For example, the basic savings amount for a contributor aged 25 is RM9,000 while a person aged 35 must have at least RM29,000 before he can make a withdrawal.

Currently, members can invest 20% of the excess of RM55,000 in Account 1. This scheme will be scrapped on Feb 1.

“The amount of savings put aside in Account 1 progressively at various pre-determined age levels is to enable members to accumulate the minimum savings that will enable them to reap RM500 a month for 20 years (after retirement),” said Hizwani.

For an employee to achieve the RM120,000 basic savings, it is estimated that an 18-year-old, at current contribution rates, will have to earn at least RM444 a month with a 3% yearly increment and at 4% annual EPF dividend, he said.

By Feb 1, 1.76 million contributors will be eligible to invest RM23bil from Account 1, compared to 850,000 people who are eligible to invest RM96bil currently.

Meanwhile, from Feb 1, about 150,000 employees aged between 55 and 75 will have to make mandatory EPF contributions.

EPF deputy CEO Ibrahim Taib said that the new ruling was introduced in view of Malaysians living longer and to encourage those above 55 to continue working.

Under the scheme, employees will contribute 5.5% and employers 6%, he said at the EPF headquarters here yesterday, adding that employees can also opt to contribute more.

Currently, contributions from those aged 55 and above are voluntary, and the amount is agreed upon between employers and employees.

Those who fail to contribute will be liable to three years' jail and can be fined up to RM10,000 or both under the EPF Act, Ibrahim said.

For non-citizens aged 55 to 75 who chose to contribute after Aug 1, 1998, the rate is 5.5%, while employers pay RM5 a month.

As of Dec 31 last year, there were 5.57 million EPF contributors and 144,467 were between 55 and 75 years old, said Ibrahim.

blogger comment ' Now anyone can invest ' (or at least most of us can)

'Which star are you from?'

Which star are you from?
This Korean drama series,
although draggy at times, it is still one series I crave
Nevertheless, it actually took me 1 month and 1 week to finish 16 episodes ... talking about craving for a series...hehe..
It's a conventional love story with unconventional twist.
The chemistry between the lovers were good but somewhat funny.
There are some scenes that will make you cry

From watching I've understood :
(Love - relationship)
1. Love someone for who they are... (not someone who has similarity to who you've loved before)
2. True love withstand the test of time and obstacles
3. If we had learn to let go and he/she reappear in our life, we are meant for each other

(Love - parents and close kins)
1. It's not easy to be a good mother. Nevertheless we never give up.
2. There are certain people who will come into our lives and leave our lives at any point of time. Appreciate those who try to come into our lives but never forgetting those who has shaped us to who we are today.
3. Think twice or thrice (or as many times) before we do something because it's our loved ones who will get hurt most.
4. In any situation, we shall put ourselves into others' shoes because everyone of us is different and everyone of us have our own difficulties.

it's 5.8, no more no less

5.8% ... no more no less

is the dividend EPF (Employee Provident Fund) members get for 2007.
(yah... i know every one also know, if it's got something to do with our $$, we ought to know, right )

There's a slight improvement on the quantum of increase from previous years.
The EPF dividend rate has been growing steadily since it hit a low of 4.25 in 2002.
Thereafter, the quantum of increases over the few years has been around 0.25 to 0.5 at most.

Crediting of the funds into members' accounts will be on 1/3/08.
Till then, remember to check and update your EPF accounts.

EPF to me plays a vital role in our retirement planning. Do not overlook this fund because no matter how little (or how much) we have now, it will accumulate, compound and grow as years pass.

So far, EPF has been making steady progress in term of implementation...
For instance

1. EPF contributors will be allowed to make monthly withdrawals for financing one house effective Jan 1, 2008

2. EPF unit trust investors need pay only 3% sales charge if using contributions to invest in unit trust.

Hopefully, there will be more implementations in the pipeline which will benefit the contributors.

If you ask me, I will say EPF has done a good job but there are still major rooms for improvement. We need to move forward in order not to move backward.
Enough said.

heart warming days

yesterday was and today is a heart warming day.

Suddenly all the things that cross my path are so heart warming.... in fact, it reinforce to me that life is just so beautiful.

Yesterday,

while helping a friend to check on the clearance of cheque, I took some of my lunch time to speak to a colleague in my previous department.
She told me what she's been through a lot last few months where her husband had a critical heart operation which could fail or left him paralyzed.

This couple has 2 very young children age 5 and below.
The last few months was one of the hardest period in their lives but they persevere out of love for each other and their children.

She told me 'anything else doesn't really matter anymore' when loved ones have to go through life and death situation.
She had forego promotion to be team leader but does it matter?

She also said 'we are very forgetful people, we may forgot the hardship we endure after some time but we must not forget that we were given another chance, we need to appreciate it'

such are the powerful wisdoms from people who had walked the talk.
although I may not have faced much hardship but I know this much is true.

Today,

while walking from LRT station to my office. I saw a very heart warming image that I couldn't stop myself from snapping the pic.

At a glance, you may think they are friends who walked together and have hand on each other shoulder...
But if you look closer, you'll notice that these 3 friends are visually impaired.
The bond that they share and the trust that they put on each other is just awesome.
I was moved.

Some may see it as blind leading the blind... but why? it is because the capable wasn't willing to offer a helping hand.
I'm just as guilty for not helping them cross the road .... all because it's not the same direction and I assume others will help... come to think of it... what's so difficult of bringing them across the road and walking back??

Today,

Around 4pm, I heard bird chipping in the office. Thinking it was just some innovative ring tones, I ignored it but the chirping was persistent and grew louder.
I traced the origin of the bird chirping to the window at far left end of my office where the outdoor unit of the aircond is.
Me and my collegue decided to open the slide window. The birds were not there anymore but there was an egg slightly bigger than quail egg. There are some traces of shit and many nuts leftovers.

Again, it is very seldom we see heart warming egg like this, imagine a new birdie is coming into this big big world. There were no nest but i think the outdoor aircond unit does help.

In facebook, I'm happy to see hatching eggs but I think I'll be estactic when one day, i find this egg hatched.

What makes yesterday & today a more heart warming day is because
TOMORROW is a HOLIDAY.... yahoo!!!!

You wouldn't believe me if I say there's feng shui tips in the brochure of one of the leading hypermarket brochures (which they drop into your letter box or which you collect at the entrance)
I wonder whether will anyone sees it or it's just people like me (who ponder over the prices and scrutinize each and every items) realised that the small little columns are there.

Here I would like to share some useful pointers from the brochure.

Bedrooms
One of the most important Feng Shui tips ... Bedrooms should be sacred spaces where an adult or child can retreat and regenerate. We spend roughly one third of our lives in our bedroom, so maintaining balance and serenity in this area is essential.

Living room
The living room is where we entertain, generally speaking. It may also be a place for family to gather. Some people hardly ever step foot in their living rooms. To the extent that you use your living room, that is how much it will affect your health and well being.

Side entrance
One of the most important. Many people enter their home through a back door or side door out of convenience. Garage entrances are very common as well. If this is the entrance used more than the formal front door, then the energies at this side entrance will affect you more. This does not however change the orientation of your house.

Windows
Windows should always open properly and allow sufficient light and pleasant view into the room. Window should be defined height and width. It is not ideal to sleep with your head just inches from a window.

Ceilings
ceilings are ideally flat without severe slopes. The slopes in ceiling will cause the flow of air currents in the room to be chaotic. This contributes to sleep problem if a person work or sleep under them. The downward pressure can contribute to health problems.

pst pst... although I felt the tips are like 'say already equal to never say'
nevertheless it is considered 'GOOD' because it can distract people from comparing too much of prices... kekeke..

"Just like my dear dear"

Dear told me he’s this one while we are shopping at Tesco Extra the other day…

Where?

Then dear pointed to the zigsaw puzzle.
From afar, without my specs I could only see 3 patch of colours.

Then dear pointed to the one in the middle…. Wakaka….

The best thing was he said
“ Just like my dear dear “

I couldn’t stop laughing
Do you see what the yellow kitty is doing ??? in the class??? wakaka....
And even till tonight, when I remembered this … I’m laughing to myself

I know I must apologize dear, for falling asleep 5 out of 10 times when we watch movies together. Or it is 6 or 7 out of 10 times? =p

Don't whether it's I didn't clean my ears that I couldn't catch all what they say
or
I'm tired yet love to watch movie with dear
or
I'm just a plain sleepy head with too much sleep debt =p

I think I know the answer..... hehe
ok.. ok let's make this one of my new year resolutions
that is
Not to fall asleep while watching movies with dear =)

Friends, you all will support me right?? kaka.... =D

Roller Coaster ride

The happiest news I heard from sis after they came back from Macau + Hong Kong trip is ....
'Daddy took the roller coaster ride ah'

I would have never imagine my dad would even want to go near a roller coaster ride.
And he used to always advise us against going for those 'dangerous' rides.

It's really something big for dad and for us all ....
When I asked dad about his ride ...
'Wah, the one really fast and scary ah' was what he said.

He said he just followed my sister and boyfriend and he was already in the queue before he realised. He and uncle just then decided to go for it.

I'm so so happy that my family and 'suk suk' enjoyed the trip very much ...
Oh... did I mentioned the things they bought for souvenirs ...

Seeing their happy faces makes me very happy ... it's the kind of unexplainable feelings.
It just makes all the efforts worthwhile ... very worthwhile

Thank you dear for being with me all these while ...
Even though I'm a sleepy piggy =p

2007 ... looking back (Part 2)

July 07
3rd anniversary for my bloggie... it's a big achievement, at least I've persevere for so long. We shifted office on 070707... well, this new office is definately much better. This new location has helped me save alot of money since ATM machines is not easily accessible. Plus, bonus I walk further for exercise.
My first flight on aeroplane and 1st trip overseas to Macau & Zhu Hai... thank you aunty for bringing me along. I enjoyed the trip very much =)

One of the craziest thing dear and I did was trying to finish the 5000 pieces puzzle while listening to Teresa Teng's songs the night before we travel on 7.20 flight. That was my very beautiful birthday present dear gave me.

August 07

A little girl whom I got to know not very long ago left us... We knew she's now in good hands.
It was in this month I found back my joy in reading and started reading diligently although I not a fast reader.
Thought of joining jewellery making classes, but I procrastinate and wasn't willing to part with my hard-earned money.
In conjunction with the 50th Merdeka celebration, I've blogged about my memories growing up.
Just like our country, I've tasted bitter sweet sour spicy along the journey.

Sept 07

This is the month we had been waiting for!!! The trip to BALI was superb minus the 'little mishap' that happened and the exorbitant medical fees. I have to admit I love shopping in BALI. BALI is a beautiful island. 1 thing I noticed is that at least the people there make a living decent ways although they are not well to do.
Oh... and I didn't expect to see so many doggies there =)

Oct 07

I learnt a skill or two to 'tipu' kiddies at the Ballonary workshop I attended for free. This year Hari Raya marks the 1st time I'm working on a public holiday... lucky I get a replacement though although I prefer CASH.
I did a little spring clean for my room and spring cleaned my head as well ... I cut my hair short and became 'short hair advocate' diva overnight =p
I love myself with short hair =)

Nov 07

These last 2 months of the year was filled with many many happy occasions and blessing ... mostly weddings.
My sis got me to this website http://www.freerice.com/index.php and I think it's a creative way of helping the needy people.
I feel accomplished as I've check myself in for a full medical check up free of charge.
And oh... not to forget the Bachelorette Bukit Tinggi Trip.
I've improved alot ever since I confessed to be a shopaholic. And with dear's support, I've repented.

Dec 07

I'm proud of myself... I completed what needs to be done for year 2007. I had my medical checkup and went for dentist appointment. I treated myself to an exclusive holiday at Pangkor and Cameron. Got the rest and the sleep I needed.
In fact, there are so many things to write for the month of Dec 07 that I decided to write it in future.

Farewell 2007

2007 ... looking back (Part 1)

On this last moments of 2007, (ok, ok this post was composed way back in 2007)

I just can't help but reflect back what a year it has been.

2007 was definately a year filled with laughters and tears .... but then again which year passed without laughter and tears??

Some things happened way too fast, some never happened ...

While I found my way to someone's lives, some people dearest to me left my life ..

Jan 07
Fresh from the hangover of our very long enjoyable 2006 year end holiday to Langkawi & Penang, took me a few days to get myself familiar writing the new date ending with 07 instead of 06.
Took me a couple of hours to think carefully over my 2007 resolutions
I wrote them in my blog because I really want to fulfill my resolutions and I needed support from everyone. It means alot to me.

Feb 07
Valentine's Day
Last time I used to sit at home and watched TV last time hoping that someone will ever fall in love with this girl. Then now, it's so packed everywhere that I still sit at home and watch TV, the only difference is the person whom I love is right beside me.... most probably thinking 'Why on earth did I fall in love with this girl?'
CNY last year bring back memories of childhood ... because I received many clothes ... Just like last time.

Mar 07
Was the travel to Melaka... where the UNO game was the highlight. It was this bunch of good old friends that have traveled with me ... through ups and downs ... make us laugh at ourselves when we look back.
A career development wokshop by my company .... made me realised that I've lost my enthusiasm towards my career. The workshop may have defeated its purpose..sad to say because it made me discovered there's so much more in life than career.
During then, I was praying hard to GOD because I just needed strength to carry on. GOD answered my prayers.

April 07
Was a busy month with many new funds launching by Public Mutual. April 07 was the first time I spend time answering TAG. First TAG was from anehoic. Two of my close friends are leaving their current situation for good. One resigned and join another organisation, while one went to Singapore for good. It pains my heart when she told she's no longer with her boyfriend of almost 10 years. But as long as she's happy, I'm happy for her too. It's income tax submission time again. There's never a better time to learn to be organised than filling up tax forms and ensuring all the receipts are in place.
It's the BONUS month and I was sad that my bonus and increment was just no good. Maybe, I've only got myself to blame for not working smart enough.

May 07

We have been planning for our trips for the 2nd half of the year. I celebrated Mother's Day with mummy without knowing this will be the last... if only I knew, I would have celebrated each day of the year with mummy.

The trip to taiping was like going back to nature..with the hot spring, gunung lang, lake and night safari. I had a great timeblogging about the trip too... click here to refresh memories. I did myself proud by enrolling for YOGA... which I still persistently attend till now.

June 07
I discovered life's little pleasure through gardening and started growing plants. I enjoy watching them grow every day.
Dear gave me a scare when he went unconscious during our FRIM trip. Just how much I love this guy? Very much.
While I found my way to someone's lives, some people dearest to me left my life .. I will always remember the last moments spent with mummy... I'm sorry mummy, I've never love you enough. Everything seem to collapse and vanished when you left us. I took a very long time to stand up again, to be strong again but it wasn't easy.

a little more time...

sorry if I may have not updated my blog for a little while longer...
no, it's not because I've lost interest in blogging
it has been a busy year end and a busier beginning of year ...

I've yet to have time to start puttings in words what I have in mind.
Mostly I only have my 'To-Do' List playing in my head and written in my little book.
I may be busy for a little more while
and when I have time, I promise I'll sit down and write a good piece

Yesteryear was a good year filled with laughters minus the tears
This year 2008 is definately a better year
Resolutions??
As old fashioned as it can be, I still insist on having my resolutions for 2008
Never mind if it's the same old ones that I didn't managed to achieve for yesteryears,
Never mind if people are laughing at my silly resolutions,
Never mind if resolutions are not 'IN' nowadays..

I'm still writing my resolutions for this year....
Cause I think it's a way of loving myself

Happy New Year everyone!!!!
May everyone of us achieve what we are aiming for....
