porridge <----- poor rich

Despite having porridge as meals all my childhood & growing up years, I still love porridge.

I wonder how does the word porridge comes about? It is poorrich (combination of poor & rich meaning it's food for both the poor & rich? )

Cooking up another pot of porridge last Saturday for sis & myself.
honestly, the taste was only so-so =p
Hope I can make tastier porridge next round =)
then I don't have to force sis to finish the porridge in the pot and myself having 2 big bowls =D lol

wearing 'biscuit tin' photos

some random photos of us wearing 'biscuit tin' shirt during the Jacob Walk of Life.
< --- Keef : hah??? when can see the photo of biscuit tins? need to wait so long ar...
< --- CY : see I told you she'll ask this question ... hehe

what an experience

another milestone ....
Yesterday 24/8/08, not only did I upgraded myself in running,
I upgraded my obasang'ness and kiasu'ness as well =p
I actually ransacked the dump area for a box to carry all those free drinks in bottles and cans which I've accumulated by queuing many many rounds because they allow one bottle per person only.
(Was trying to get free drinks for everyone at home and at office as well as for myself =p )

histories made ...
not only I managed to complete a 10km run (which only I never thought of completing) in about 1 hour 30 minutes,
this was also our 1st experience of car being broken into (not that I want this kind of thing to ever happen again). While we are waiting to finish the race, Keef's injured car must have been waiting for our return. I'm so sorry about it.
Fortunately, nothing valuable were taken. We are able to find the pakar cermin kereta to attend to keef's car.

As much as I would like to pursue running, I have thoughts of retiring end of this year. Yah, not that I even started =p lol .... yes, I know I've not even give the 21-km 'buddy' a chance.

I've always enjoy the solidatory moments during the runs ... enjoying mother nature, listening to my favourite tracks, listening to my own heartbeat, listening to what my heart has to say, listening to 'me' & feeling myself drenched in sweat (a symbol of hardwork)

In this SHAPE RUN, I've a long long thought & flashback about my life, my loved ones and what I want in life. I see some people running towards their goals, I see people strolling, but what I see in most people is their never give up attitude and their passion.

Everyone of us run for a reason. What's yours?

ps. I also DISCOVERED ...Things will happen when we put our mind & heart to it... I personally experience it (not the 1st time).

This is about a tiny rubberband ... but please continue reading...

My tiny rubberband broke and I tied it back but it broke again & I tied it again. I was asking everyone - Keef, FL, PW whether they have extra but unfortunately they don't. When the rubberband broke and flew-dunno-to-where while we are walking to the starting point, I started panicking because I couldn't be running with my hair let free ... they will start poking my eyes, sweeping my neck and I'll be sweating like hell.

I visualise that there's rubberband on the ground waiting for me to pick up and true enough about 200 metres in front, I stumble upon a big rubberband (the type they use to tied stack of letters together at post office). It was great for tying my hair. I was jumping with joy for it was something I needed very much at that point of time.

See, I've always believe that if we want something (good things of course) badly enough, we put our mind, heart and effort to it. It will come to us. This is also why I always believe that we reap what we sow.

the cow secrets revealed ..

hehe... you may now take out your ' COW ' and fold the A4 paper in 4 parts (like below).
How you interpret will depend on how you drew your cow.
If your drawing is on potrait mode, look at it that way (like below)
If your drawing is on landscapre mode, rotate the paper so that the cow is standing upright.

here are some pointers the trainer shared

those poeple who drew cow with face facing us are people who faces their problem upfront.

those people who drew cow with big big legs are dependable on others.

those people who drew cows with ears are good listeners ... the fact that they drew ears means listening is important. Don't be suprised that some 'cows' actually do not have ears.

those people with more parts of the cow in the top left quadrant of the paper are optimistic people. The more parts, the more optimistics. (I basically almost have my whole COW there =D )

those people who drew cow in a very detailed manners such as with moo moo spots, eyelashes ... are detailed oriented people.

people who drew cow facing right uses more of their right brain and the same concept applies for the left.

For people who drew cow with big, fat and nice tail have sexual desire that are very high.

Hope you all enjoy this game as much as I do =)

Would you like to know more about yourself?

Today lunch time, I've attended a talk on Emotional Intelligence.
During the session, we played 2 simple games... one of which I found is very true.
Would you like to know more about yourself?
It is a simple exercise yet it can tell alot.

Ready?

Please get an A4 blank paper and
draw a cow on the paper.
Draw the first image that comes to your mind.
(come on try it ... I drew even though my drawing was horrible =p )

Upon doing so, please keep this drawing till my next post.
Don't throw the 'cow' away ... your 1st drawing will give you the most accurate explaination.

ps. Hehe... I may share my drawings at the end of the game =p

'Marley and Me' and me

source : http://www.marleyandme.com/scrapbook.html

Recommended by both of my good friends - CY & Keef, no doubt this is a good book.

I love this book from cover to cover ... not missing any single page. It is a 'tail' so beautifully written that it leave imprints in our heart.

It even made me feel that my decision to rear doggies is a good one and I shall never give up that notion.

I'll have two doggies ... 'Wishbone' and 'Milo'

there's something about 'camry'

This place wasn't this nice (peaceful) when we were there, the colour was somehow more dull, the water is murky.

There's something about this 'camry' ... he seem to be able to make the photo appear nicer than meet the eyes =D
'Camry' is gift from fairy god father ... and I promise I'll take good care of 'Camry' =D

Bring home the GOLD, Choong Wei

Admist of all those political crisis, this is one thing that I think we Malaysians look forward to...
At least there's a hope for all Malaysians, something that will bring us together regardless of our roots and beliefs.

Today, all Malaysians will be united behind you, Choong Wei ....
Go for it!!!

Updates : He has got a silver medal for us all =)
and the best part was he will donate some of the RM300k for Sichuan earthquake victim.

Jacob 'Walk of Life'

This Jacob Walk of Life is really a walk of life literally ...
for we have discovered and encountered many things throughout the whole morning.

Again thanks to keef for bringing us along.
I'm so glad we had choosen to come to this instead of the Unity Run =p

Among the 'walks' this morning beside the actual walk

1. When in doubt of direction after the 1st sign board, always go straight. Even at roundabout, take the 12 o'clock turn. When in doubt in the wee hour of the morning, you may slow down to look at the sign board.

2. There's advantage in being early. We ladies get to find out more about our bone density as there are booths set up by sponsors (Anlene) to provide bone density check. Guess what, I found out that people who don't drink milk for reasons such as lactose intolerance or dislike drinking milk actually have lowest risk od osteoporosis among us (this is not proven, just an assumption derived from a group of 4 of us =p)

3. I get to meet two of the funniest DJs of MY FM ... Jack Lim (Jacquelin - that's how the gweilo pronounced his name) and Ngan Mei Yan. Indeed Mei Yan is as pretty as people say she is=)

4. The world is a small place. While I meet on of my colleague, she asked if me & CY knows one another. Apparently, they are from the same uni and now she's my colleague ... that's a great coincidence.

5. There are really something 'cheok sou'. We didn't pay a single cent, yet we have got ourselves many freebies. Among them is the free yellow biscuit t-shirt, goodie bags (which contains Jacob biscuits, Anlene milk packet drink, Spritzer TINGE mineral water, Fitness First 3 days trial coupon for 2... and many many more packets of Anlene milk ( i think in total, about a carton or more of packet Anlene milk) ... nevermind my 'o ba sang'ness ... it's good to have milk to drink in the office =) we need calcium .... kekeke..

6. As we went to Subang Jaya for breakfast, we found out that there's a new concept in Malaysia where a certain parking area are converted into 'car flea market'. All the cars that are parked in those parking lots are meant for sale. You can meet and negotiate with the seller there and then.

7. We ended up in PJ Oldtown for breakfast ... the famous char kuay teow uncle. However, he no longer cook using charcoal. Nevertheless does have a general servings of schrimps and cockerels. Thanks CY,FL & Keef for the breakfast =)
There are many shops selling plastic household items (heard that the price is cheaper here) and selling very 'real' artificial flowers.

8. After sending FL home, we 'chai shiong mun' to Terence house to collect the floating-on-water plants which I'm supposed to collect many many months back =p see, the extend I go to to get the plants I want ... LOL

9. I forgot to pass the books to you all but nvm, we shall meet again in a weeks' time ... this time for the 10km.

ps. photos to be updated soon =)

家家有本难念的经

As I sit down and start typing, I initially wanted to write on a rather 'heavy' topic about love and life.

Lately (or maybe it's been all these while), I found out more about my colleagues ... the group of people that I spend about at least 8 hours a day for 5 days a week.

They make me realised that "家家有本难念的经"

However, somehow I couldn't proceed. I honestly do not know where to start.
May I shall leave this 'heavy topic' for another day.

For today, I choose to feel accomplished =)
We have clear 2 laundry baskets, clear wu kuei's palace, wash 2 toilets, unclogged the bathroom sink, clear the congested dining table, clear the kitchen area, and cook century egg & scallop porridge... forgot to put dried oyster =p

A friend had asked me this before
"Why do you feel so happy completing small small tasks?"

no any particular reason... I just feel happy =)
maybe something like cooking is a small task to someone but it's a great deal for me..
maybe this is how I pysche / motivate myself .. there are alot of houseworks to be done on weekends leh ..
maybe it's just how I choose to be happy .. appreciating little things in life ..
maybe it's because I believe that these smaller tasks are stepping stones to bigger achievements in life..

maybe ... there are just too many maybe's

We are each of us angels with only one wing

and we can only fly embracing each other ... Luciano de Crescenzo

How true ...

training the 'masters'

Have you tried giving training to people who are experienced and top notch in their own fields?

While I was expecting a group of MT (management trainees), I was taken aback when I'm facing with MA (Management Associate) & FL (Future Leaders) besides the normal MTs. These are the group of people who may be my leaders and superiors.

They do throw me a few questions (completed with evidence from the operating guidelines)
but what I wanted to convey is that as much as we want to go by the book, there are times we need to act on based on situation.
This is a group of audience that really does their homework and came fully equipped. I secretly like the challenges they had thrown to me ... it shows they are moving in tandem with what I'm saying.

There I'm standing feeling very small in front of those people where any of them could be my superior.
At the same time, I'm glad I'm defaulted to do this training ... whereas other departments have their big bosses do this training. While I think I'm the only 'udang kecil' joining this 3 days training, it opens me up to a totally new arena.

Never in my life can I imagine myself speaking in a well known hotel ballroom with a clip on microfon with about 50+ people listening attentively to what I have to say. Honestly, it feels great to share what I'm doing for a living with people.

Sincere thanks to you all for your willing participation and cooperation.

ps. I still remember the looks I got when I walked into the ballroom .... and when one of the class leader asked if I'm the trainer. I felt like a child lost in a foreign place. With my back pack on my bag, I feel like I'm a school girl who are not qualified to give training to these group of people who some are seniors to me in term of age, experience, knowledge, skills and ....
However, I was happy when they told me my session was one of the best so far and a great session to have on Friday before the weekend.

I think this is great ... I've taken a step to do what I'm afraid of ... and I found out it wasn't that bad after all ... At least I knew I tried and no regrets.

hard to describe my feelings but it was definately a very great experience to begin my weekend with =D

my new stress reliever

My new stress reliever – fresh from the oven (garden)

When they grow, I’ll grow

Kids say the 'truest' things

Sometimes kids ... they just make us LOL

These are the selected fews that make me LOL so much till my stomach hurts ... LOL

MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she was so old she didn't remember any more. Melanie said, 'If you don't remember you must look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six.'

BRITTANY (age 4) had an earache and wanted a pain killer. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a child-proof cap and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: 'How does it know it's me?'

SUSAN (age 4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. 'Please don't give me this juice again,' she said, 'It makes my teeth cough.'

DJ (age 4) stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: 'How much do I cost?'

MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and kissing in a restaurant. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his dad: 'Why is he whispering in her mouth?'

CLINTON (age 5) was in his bedroom looking worried. When his Mom asked what was troubling him, he replied, 'I don't know what'll happen with this bed when I get married. How will my wife fit in?'

TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for a while and then asked, 'Why doesn't your skin fit your face?'

yanking down the kitchen ...

We yanked down the kitchen and got ourselves RM680 in the process .... great deal right???
oopss ... it should read kitchen cabinet

New skill(s) acquired :
(1) un-drilling screws with the power driller .... hand must be firm. drill to screw head must be accurate else the screw worn out and difficult to remove.

(2) yanking down the kitchen ... must be in correct order using correct tools & correct level of energy.

(3) sawing with electrical power saw ... must use correct blade saw. must be stable and accurate. must wear google. must be able to withstand wood dust and loud noise. (must close mouth and cannot talk while sawing =p LOL ... especially for ppl who talk non-stop )

(4) waste disposal management ... segregate the disposable items especially recycle-able ones and 'can-earn-money-ones'. Reuse what can be reuse. Loading and unloading of disposable items into car to waste-disposal-area. Capacity management - estimate the number of trips needed to dispose the items. Effective arrangement to minimize the no. of trips.

(5) the art of giving ... ended up giving all the items to the 'helpful uncle' who collects items at the waste disposal area.

(6) creative re-use of resources ... found a water sprinkler for our garden, now has a beautiful glass pot for plant (from the mineral water glass container - modified) ... and many more ( too long to list everything here)

(7) Cleaning management ... most appropriate cleaning methods ... such as brooms for floors and vacuum for hard to reach area. Water & washing powder for stains on floor.

Sifu : Master Dear.

School fees : 1 roti bakar with ham, egg, cucumber, mayonis & chili sauce. Buy from pasar pagi one! =p

Report card :
(1) Gets cranky when tired. Disobey order when asked to go rest.
(2) Talk alot when working on projects.
(3) Lan Fan G - go to sleep before finish job and wake up after only after others complete the job.
(4) Never listen to instructions ... pandai pandai buat sendiri ... never follow safety precautions.
(5) Usage of eletrical power drill and saw weak.
(6) People carry a few pieces of wood, you carry one each round... have to go many rounds ... not efficient enough =p LOL

Overall : consider pass lah =D

Kesian sifu, so 'char' punya student also have to give pass =p kakakaka .....

dance + dance + dance = happiness

Had a very fruitful session of line dancing today =)
At last I get the steps right... yay!!! after fumbling around last week (and for many many previous weekS =p lol )

This week we did a medley of 4 songs non-stop ... am suprised that I actually enjoyed it very much =D
dance till I sweat ... dance till I dropped (with laughters)

I don't know ever since when but I fell deeply in love with dancing.

Ironic it seems but our mind actually retain what we've learnt although we have not practiced for the last 2 - 3 months. When the songs came, our legs will move accordingly and swiftly (like can switch on auto mode =p) This I found is amazing and this was what happened today ... somehow those dance steps which I thought I had returned to the line dance instructors came back to me effortlessly =D

and I feel great to be able to dance with a bunch of fun colleagues ...
feel great to dance without inhibition, without feeling shy =p
dance like 'who say I can't dance' way

I LOVE DANCING !!!!

ps. and I told myself I'll start practicing ... yah, I told myself this very long ago, ever since I started the line dance class but I just never got to do it. Now it's the time while the metal is still HOT!!

I don't buy anymore

Ever since we have booked the trip to Bangkok ...
I've stopped buying EVERYTHING which I think can be bought at Bangkok particularly Cathucak.

and when keef mentioned that can we have a full day trip for Cathucak ... my heart leap & jump with JOY.

Gals, are you all READY for the TRIP ???

just make sure we have enough money to come back ya!!!! =p

ps. it's about 1 month and 2 days away ah !!!! I can't WAIT!!!

Lately ...

Lately..

I'm back to my very hectic schedule again ..
I'm feeling there isn't enough time for everything.
I'm feeling I need more than 1 of me to complete the tasks and things-to-be-completed.

There are so many things and they are all shouting 'urgent' that I lost myself in the 'urgent' maze.
Prioritize ... I've tried but all I'm feeling is like I'm being rushed and pushed from all corners.

Sometimes I feel I'm on the brink of breaking down ...
Sometimes I find it hard to breathe...

How I wish I could find more time ...

1 MORE DAY ....

You can do your part too =)

Save our earth, our mother nature,

1. Contribute to recycling effort.

2. Encourage communication by email and only print out what is necessary.

3. Save up to 30% of the electricity bill when unused computers and electrical equipments are turned off.

4. Use both sides of paper when printing, and reuse printed papers.

When the work is never ending

we shall continue growing

When the work is never ending
we shall continue living

When the work is never ending
we shall never stop playing

Work is never ending but stress should stay where it should be residing (office)

Do we look alike?

When my colleague returned the Reader's Digest (June 2005) I lent her, she only has this to say

" This girl looked exactly like you "

and when she shoved the magazine to another colleague, the other colleague said

" Is that a photo of you submitted while you were younger? "

Do we look alike?

I need your honest opinion to determine whether it's real or my colleague are trying to make me laugh =p

Are you exhausted?

Lately, most of my buddies are very very busy at work (except for the lucky fews)

So when I saw this 'Master Wu Guei' at the Kementerian Kesihatan booth at KWSP, I just walked over and grabbed the brochures.

While reading the brochures, I thought of you all .... all hard workers =p
the brochures is in BM, so I did a bit of translation here

What are the signs of exhaustion?

sleepy
tired and no energy / fatigue
lack of energy for physical activities
lack of concentration or focus
lack of motivation to work
lack of coordination
lack of danger anticipation
lack of caution
impulsive action
slow decision making

I must admit I've more than 2 of the symptoms above ...
I'm exhausted.
What bout you?

‘From now on, I’ll let him open the door for me’

Last time, when we first started ‘pak tor’, I have a very bad habit.

I don’t believe in letting the gentleman opening the door (the push type) for me when I’m just as capable to do it myself.
I wanted to be so-called ‘independent’ and refuse to (ma-fan) rely on him to do simple things like opening doors.
He always insisted that he will push open the door for me and I kept refusing.

Every time we approach doors (that need to be pushed to go through), we will both make a dash to see who gets to push open the door 1st.
Sometimes, he’ll have to hold me back so that he gets to push open the door (yalah, his hand longer ma =p)

Each time, he’ll want to push open the door for me and I couldn’t understand why.
I couldn’t comprehend why he doesn’t allow me to do simple things like this or holding the doors for him to pass through.
All he wanted to do was just to open that door for me, and yet I was just so ‘keras kepala’ (stubborn).

This morning while in the LRT, I suddenly told myself

‘From now on, I’ll let him open the door for me’

.........

.........

.........

.........

I read this from Dr John Gray book that

[ When a man opens the door for a woman, it is as if he is subconsciously saying " You're special to me, I care about you, I honour you, I am here for you, I understand you do so much for everyone so I am happy to help make things easier for you whenever I can."

This loving message is given each time a man goes a little out of his way to show consideration for making his partner's life easier and more comfortable. Actions speak louder than words. ]

Dear, is this why you always subconsciously wanted to push open the doors for me?
Sorry, I didn't know it could mean so much.

ps. don't worry, I'll leave all the doors to you =p LOL
